Kathie Rae Chandler (Dickason), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister was called home to God February 2, 2017. She is survived by husband, Virgil, daughters Julie Paddock (Scott), Diane Woodard (Justin) and Karla Huffman (Mark), grandchildren Bobbie Jo Mowell, Jeremy and Shawn Paddock, Jesse and Emily Conner, Zackary Woodard, Chandler and Graham Huffman, great grandchildren Peyton, Madyson, Matthew, Maxwell, Jacob and Melody, and sister, Judy Rodmaker. Kathie was proceeded in death by her parents, Lester and Irma Dickason.

Kathie was born July 22, 1940, and grew up in Villa Grove, Ill. In 1958 she met and married the love of her life, Virgil Chandler. November 28, 2016 marked their 58 ^th wedding anniversary celebrating a marriage of love, laughter, partnership and a deep faith in God and family.

The Chandler's moved to Arthur in 1971 and felt the embrace of the close, loving community. They joined The First Baptist Church that has served as a place of worship, second home and family ever since. Kathie shared her love of music with the church and community playing the piano for services and countless student programs.

Kathie had a passion for reading and influenced generations of children as a Library Aid at Arthur Grade School. For over 20 years she shared her love of reading and learning with the students.

After retiring, Kathie enjoyed time with family, traveling to see the colors of fall, reading, serving the community and laughing with Virgil.

Kathie's warm smile, kind heart and loving, Christian spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Her family takes comfort knowing that she is in the arms of Jesus and in the presence of God.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m. at The First Baptist Church of Arthur. A visitation and celebration of life will follow from 3-7:00 p.m. at the church. Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur, is assisting the family with arrangements.
