Karen Ruth “Katie” King, 73, of Tuscola, passed away at 8:50 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at the Haven of Tuscola, Tuscola, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 29, 2026 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL with Rev. Mike Wilder officiating. Burial will follow at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Karen was born on January 23, 1953 in Tuscola, the daughter of Wayne R. and Wilma J. Lewis Rahn. She married Nelson “Pete” King on December 27, 1987 in Tuscola. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2007.

Survivors include her son: Donald E. Miller, Jr. and wife: Iris of Tuscola, grandson: Blake (Kendra) Bass and great-granddaughters: Raelynn & Isla Bass, stepson: Roger (Dawn) King of West Frankfort and his children: Dakota and Marissa, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 sisters: Linda Brann and Judy Wright.

Karen worked as a retail clerk and also as a bank teller for the Tuscola National Bank for 20 years. She formerly worked as an ERBA employee. Karen was longtime member of the Tuscola First Baptist Church, and she enjoyed decorating her home for Christmas.

Memorials are suggested to the Tuscola First Baptist Church, American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.
