Karen Sue Crosby, 60, of Atwood, IL, passed away suddenly at 1:31 a.m. Monday, May 29, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL with Dr. Lanny Faulkner officiating.

Karen was born December 31, 1956 in Champaign, IL, the daughter of Russell and Gertrude Seyler Bruce.

She is survived by her mother: Gertrude Bruce of Sadorus, IL; her children: Wendy Herschberger of Sadorus, IL; Stacy (Jason) Kamerer of Tolono, IL; Danielle (Calvin Grace) Crosby of Tolono, IL; Michael (Ashlee) Crosby of Lawrenceburg, TN and Vanessa Crosby of Atwood, IL; 21 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren a brother: Carl Bruce, Sr of Sadorus, IL and a sister: Cindy (Jim) Priest of Sadorus, IL.
She was preceded in death by her father Russell Bruce.

Karen attended the First Baptist Church of Atwood and loved the Lord and her family. She was dearly loved by all. She was proud of the mothers she nurtured her daughters to be and of her son's military service. Karen was a caring, hardworking and selfless person. She would do anything to help someone in need. Karen was the owner and operator of a pizza place in Atwood and a convenience store in Sadorus. She was a Doula for many years and was present for the births of her grandchildren. She loved to sew and loved her tea. She loved both of her Yorkies: Cisco and Sophie.

Flowers or plants may be sent to Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home or in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
