June Chesnut, 94, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 12:34 p.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the St. Vincent Heart Center, Indianapolis, IN

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL, with the Rev. Don Gerkin officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL.

June was born on June 9, 1918 in Newton, IL, the daughter of O.C. and Clara Henry McCrillis. She eloped with Ivan D. Chesnut on January 1, 1938 to Covington, IN. He preceded her in death on August 24, 2002.

Left to grieve her passing are her son: Steve (Martha) Chesnut of Atwood, daughter: Rebecca (John) Schable of Tuscola, and daughter-in-law: Bonnie Chesnut of Atwood, along with 10 grandchildren: Lori Knudsen of Champaign, Elisa Jamison of Atwood, Amy Davis of Hammond, Josh Chesnut of Hammond, Stephanie Schwengel of Shelbyville, Monica Davis of Hammond, O'Neal Chesnut of Newburgh, IN, Tim Schable of Atwood, Andrea Evey of Decatur, Meredith Schable of Chicago, 28 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son: Jerry, great-granddaughter: Jenny Davis, brother: Clarence "Doc" McCrillis and sisters: Theo Bridges, Hazel Salyers and Iva Jones.

June was one of the pillars of the Atwood Christian Church. She was a homemaker and was well known for her cooking and baking talents.
