Juanita R. Mutch, 90, of Atwood, IL, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 in her home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the United Church of Atwood, 210 North Main Street, Atwood, IL, with Rev. Mike Drake officiating. Burial will follow in the Cartwright Cemetery, rural Tuscola, IL.

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Atwood, IL is in charge of the arrangements.

Juanita was born on May 11, 1927 in Tuscola, IL, the daughter of C.F. "Ted" and Grace Monger Reeder. She married Donald D. Mutch on October 2, 1949. They were married for 42 years and had two children, Pamela and Steven. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1992.

Juanita was an integral part of the United Church of Atwood, where she was active in teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, serving on several church committee's and being part of the Women's Fellowship.

She was a member of the James Reeder American Legion Auxillary for 68 years; serving as President and Treasurer several times and worked on many projects at the district level. She was also active with the Girl's State Program and served as a nurse at some of those state functions. Juanita initiated and served as chairman of the Auxillary blood drive for 25 years.

Her other community projects included being a member of the Atwood Women's Club, where she served as President, member of the Atwood Home Extension Club, active member of the Bible Department of the Tuscola Women's Club. She was also a volunteer of the Faith in Action group for many years. She also delivered meals as a part of the Peace Meal program. Juanita was named Atwood Citizen of the Year in 2000.

Juanita went to nurse's training as a part of the Army Cadet Corp thru Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. She worked as an OB nurse at Jarman Memorial Hospital in Tuscola, IL from 1950 thru 1967.

Surviving are her children: Pamela (Michael) Walker of Oak Grove, MO and Steve (Norma) Mutch of Urbana, IL, sister-in-law: Jean Hendrickson of Atwood, IL, grandchildren include: Rob (Maria) Walker, Matt Walker, Christina (John) Hartmeyer, Michael (Michelle) Davis, Gary (Kathy) Davis, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Max Reeder, sister: Margaret Hage, granddaughter: Patty Davis, granddaughter-in-law: Stephanie Walker and a great-great-granddaughter.

Memorials are suggested to the United Church of Atwood or to the American Legion Auxillary.
