John Hayward Rothgeb, 96, of River Hills, IA, formerly of Tuscola, IL, died at 2:22 A.M., Sunday, August 6, 2006 at the Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk, IA

Graveside Services with military graveside rites will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 2, 2006 at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, with the Rev. Bruce Baumberger officiating. The Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Rothgeb was born on December 24, 1909 in East Orange, NJ, the son of Wade Hampton and Mabel Hayward Rothgeb. He married Ruth Davis on September 24, 1938 in Decatur, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1996.

Survivors include: 1 Son: John D. Rothgeb and wife: Pennie of Keokuk, IA, 1 Daughter: Jane R. Hackett and husband: Denny of Morris, IL, 1 Sister: Mildred Rothgeb Ulrich of Coupeville, WA, 7 Grandchildren: Laura Rothgeb Wills of Keokuk, IA, Melissa Hackett of Morris, IL, Doug W. Rothgeb of Keokuk, IA, Phil Hackett of North Port, FL, Kady Hackett Zumwalt of Aurora, IL, John H. Rothgeb of Raleigh, NC, Sara Goldie Matlock of Keokuk, IL, 6 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Nephew: John Ulrich of Washington.

He was preceded in death by 1 Son: George W. Rothgeb.

Mr. Rothgeb moved to Keokuk, Iowa four months ago after living in Tuscola, IL for the past 50 years. He was a businessman and owned several small businesses. He was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church, Tuscola Lion's Club and the Tuscola V.F.W. He served in the US Navy during World War II.
