John J. Romine, 89, of Tuscola, IL, entered rest at 5:05 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 1015 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with Rev. Jayson Garcia officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial with military rites accorded will be held at the Cartwright Cemetery, rural Tuscola, IL.

John was born on January 12, 1926 at Ficklin, IL, the son of Benjerman and Mabel Jennylynn Nixon Romine. He married Bernice Spencer on August 19, 1950 in Garrett, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include his son: Michael (Marita) Romine of White Heath, IL, daughters: Patricia (Rick) Galloway of Petersburg, IN and Joy (Mark) Simpson of Tuscola, IL, grandchildren: Wesley, Nathan (Megan) and Alex Romine, Crystal (Eric) Kreger, Dustin Galloway, Steven Simpson and B. Simpson, great-grandchildren: Austin, Draeden and Hudson Kreger, Haylee Robinson, Clayton Galloway, Charlotte Romine and Sylvia Romine, brother: George Romine of Pana, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Benjamin, Ervin and Horace Romine.

John was a farmer and finish carpenter. He and his wife attended the Faith Baptist Church. He was a member of the Tuscola Moose Lodge and the Carpenter's Union Local #44, Champaign, IL
John served his country during World War II as a member of the US Navy.
