Obituary

John D. Lloyd, 91, of Pesotum died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008 in Tuscola. His parents, John and Ione Blanche (Rollings) Lloyd, immigrated to Canada in 1905. Mr. Lloyd, the youngest of 4 children, was born in Davidson, Saskatchewan in 1916. The family returned to this country in 1922 and settled in Arcola where he attended public school. After he graduated from high school in 1935, he worked in construction for two years. In 1937, he began to farm in northern Douglas County. In 1939, he married Gretchen Margaret Parks of Tuscola who survives in Tuscola. He retired from farming in 1984.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Clara Gunn, and one brother, Clifford Lloyd. He is survived by: one daughter, Alice Kohler and her husband: Harry, of Fairhope, Alabama; one son, John P. Lloyd and his wife: Ruth Ann of Stillwater, Oklahoma; one grandson, Scott Kohler and his wife: Susannah of Galveston, Texas; and one sister, Mary Wisniewski of Cottonwood, Arizona.

While he enjoyed fishing, golf, and hunting, he especially enjoyed meeting strangers and turning them into lifelong friends.

There was no visitation; graveside services will be held at a later time for family members. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. The Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL has been entrusted with the arrangements.
