John Phillip Gianesin, 70, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 3:40 a.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at his home.

Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home Atwood, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Gianesin was born February 24, 1952 in Highland Park, IL the son of Peter Michael and Helen Mills Gianesin.  He married Debora K. Sapp on July 4, 2008 in Atwood, IL.  She survives.

Also surviving are his son: Peter Michael (Trish) Gianesin, step-sons: Joe (Kathy) Garrett, John Garrett, Conrad (Ashley) Ruiz and Thomas Ruiz, grandchildren: TJ Garrett. Erik Bjon Gianesin, Kenley Ruiz and Laikyn Ruiz, brother-in-law: Lyman Sapp, ex-wife: Linda Gianesin.

John was an avid hunter and fisherman in his youth.  He was a distinguished Air Force veteran, serving 2 tours in Vietnam with the SP- K-9 unit (Duke 50x0).  In his spare time, John could be found watching Westerns or sharpening his love for history watching a History Channel special.  John was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
