John R. Foote, 91, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 3:15 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2014 surrounded by his family at his home in the Jarman Senior Living Center, Tuscola, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 East Van Allen St., Tuscola, IL with Father Barry Harmon officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Thursday at the church.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie, IL. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL is entrusted with the arrangements.

John was born April 24, 1923 in Chicago, IL, the son of Roger L. and Margaret L. Lake Foote. He married Carol Liddy on July 11, 1953. She preceded him in death on January 24, 1993.

Survivors include 3 daughters: Barbara J Wolfensberger and husband Stephan of Islisberg, Switzerland, Dr. Sally Foote and husband: Tom Wold of Tuscola, IL and Nancy J. Foote of Chicago, IL; 2 granddaughters: Carole Noelle Wolfensberger of Islisberg, Switzerland and Glenda Foote-Wold of Tuscola, IL;

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Gordon and Robert Foote and sister: Sally Boney

Memorials are suggested to the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, Monarch Butterfly Restoration Project c/o Jarman Center, Tuscola, IL, or Walnut Point State Park, Oakland, IL

John retired from AT&T Corporation where he worked as a mechanical engineer for 35 years. He was a US Army Veteran having served during World War II in the Army Radio Signal Corps. He was a member of the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church and RCIA. He was also a member of the Mars Ham Radio Service and North Shore Camera Club. He enjoyed playing the recorder, water color painting, reading, hiking and photographing nature. His children, marriage and his grandchildren were the most important things in his life.
