Obituary
John Allen Edgecombe, 87, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 8:44 a.m., Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL with Rev. Mike Drake officiating.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Graveside Services with military rites accorded will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL.
John was born on December 11, 1929 in New Orleans, LA, the son of John Ira and Mary Caroline Woolverton Edgecombe. He married Sharon P. Busker Campbell on August 7, 2010 in Southhaven, MS. She survives.
Also surviving is his daughter: Julia Walker of New Orleans, LA, grandson: Scott Willis, sisters: Mary Keller of St. Louis, MO and Betty Bragg of Ponchatoula, LA
Other survivors include his extended family: Tracie (Michael) Harp of Tuscola, IL, Tyree (Leslie) Campbell of Bloomington, IL, Brett Campbell of Chenoa, IL and Paige Tharge of El Paso, IL, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son: Kevin Edgecombe.
John served his country for over 20 years during the Korean War and Vietnam War as a member of the United States Marine Corp. He retired with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. John then worked for many years for a supply company.
He was a member of the United Church of Atwood, VFW, American Legion and Tuscola Moose Lodge. John was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine. He loved watching John Wayne movies and was an avid sports fan.
Memorials are suggested to the United Church of Atwood.
