MATTOON
John Donald East, 79, of Mattoon, formerly of Arcola, died at 7:55 AM Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in Bloomington.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Rest Haven Cemetery, Mattoon, with Pastor Brian Miller officiating. There will be no visitation. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.

John was born December 29, 1933 in Camargo, the son of James Nelson and Lena Black East. He married Freda Janet Chism and they had two daughters, Tonya Dawn (Keith) Willison of Mattoon and Cindy Jo (Greg) Hagerman of Chesterfield, Missouri. He then married Helen Horn Chaney in 1983.

Survivors include his wife Helen of 29 years and daughters, Tonya and Cindy. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Blake (Karlee) Freeman of Champaign; Evan Simpson of Chesterfield, Missouri; Kiley Willison of Eugene, Oregon; Ryan Willison of Bloomington; Marissa Willison of Mattoon; stepson, Mark (Jennifer) Chaney and grandson, Josh Chaney of Riverton; sister, Joan Jason of Loomis, California; and brother, Lowell (Vi) East of Charleston; and \several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Ralph Moyer and Billy East; 4 sisters, Helen Riggle, Jessie Greenway, Bona Gene Brown, Louise Moyer; and his faithful companion, Rocky.

John was a graduate of Arcola High School, Class of 1951. He was employed with ELASCO/HD Supply of Mattoon for 50 years and will be remembered by many of the employees that he considered extended family.

He served his country with the U.S. Air Force. He was a 50-year member of he International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and Local 702 Member and a 47-year member of Mattoon Masonic Lodge #260.
