John Collins, 72, of Rantoul, IL, passed away suddenly on Friday evening, April 22, 2016 at the Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2016 the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL. No visitation will be held. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Atwood, IL is assisting the family with the arrangements.
John was born on January 5, 1944 in Pierson Station, IL, the son of Woodrow and Luta Faye Sanders Collins. He married Linda Bishop on May 27, 1964 in Chula Vista, CA. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughters: Kenje Underwood of Clinton, IL, Cami Kreitzer and husband: Mike of Fisher, IL, grandchildren: Tyler, Dustin, Amber and Emily Underwood, great-granddaughter: Mia Underwood, sister: Evelyn Carrillo and husband: Raul of Atwood, IL, brother-in-law: Mike Bishop of California, sister-in-law: Selma Collins of Atwood, IL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Kenny Collins
John worked as a barber for many years, most recently at LaBounty's Barber Shop in Rantoul and King's Barber Shop in Urbana. He attended barber college in Decatur, IL and enjoyed woodworking. The love of his life were his three favorite dogs: Izzi, Cali and Luvi.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
