John L. Alexander, 84, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 9:20 am on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 600 East Northline Road, Tuscola, IL, with Pastor Jason Braaten officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.
John was born on September 12, 1926 in Fairmount, IL, the son of Albert Clifford and Mary Bryson Alexander. He married Betty Wetzel on April 17, 1949 in Tuscola, IL. She preceded him in death on December 25, 2004.
Survivors include his children: Kathryn (Dale) Albin of Tuscola, Nancy (Thomas) Hawkins of Kansas City, MO, Dan (Barbara) Alexander of Tuscola, and Laura (Dwayne)VanCleave of Tuscola, 9 Grandchildren: Monica Cruzan, Tomi Mattick, Noelle McNutt, Michael Hawkins, Carson Alexander, Marcus Alexander, Kendall Alexander, Jessica Miller and Michelle VanCleave and 7 Great-Grandchildren: Blake, Braxton, Lila, Elin, Kaleb, Theah and Vale, Brother: Clifford (Dorothy) Alexander of Danville, IL, Special Friend: Leona Humphries of Decatur, IL
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson: Eric Albin

John retired from USI-Quantum Chemical Company, Tuscola, IL, where he worked as a supervisor. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Midwest Tool Collectors Society, Tuscola Moose Lodge and Friends of the Tuscola Airport. John served in the US Army-Air Corps during World War II.
