Obituary

Phillip Joseph "Joe" Wills of Tuscola, IL, left this world on Sunday morning, September 22, 2024 and is now enjoying the most beautiful game of golf on Heaven's hills with his loving wife of 67 years Barb, who has been practicing her game in anticipation of his arrival.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the Tuscola United Methodist Church, 901 North Prairie Street, Tuscola, IL with Rev. Bennett Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the Tuscola Township Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.

Visitation will be held from 11 to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Joe was born on May 7, 1926 in Decatur, IL, the son of Phillip Edgar and Lura Leslie Kater Wills. He married Barbara Ann Van Gundy on July 10, 1953 in Arcola, IL. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2021.

Survivors include his daughter: Jerie Wills of Camargo, IL, son: Phil A. (Connie) Wills of Gainesville, GA, grandchildren: Ginger (Johnny) Dugan and Phillip (Haley) Wills, great-grandchildren: George, Claire, Daniel, Jonah and Walker.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Phyllis Landers.

Joe graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and attended Millikin University. He owned and operated King & Wills Insurance Agency from 1948 until his retirement. Joe and Barb also owned and operated Wills Real Estate.

Joe was a renaissance man, through and through. He loved to golf, fish, hunt, sing, dance, watch sports, play tennis and spend time with his friends and family.

Joe was a World War II veteran and he loved to tell the story of getting on the train to join the US Navy. He never passed up an opportunity to tell a joke or laugh at a situation. His laugh was infectious and his family will miss him dearly.

He was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church, VFW, American Legion, Tuscola Masonic Lodge #332, AF & AM and the Masonic Commandery.

Memorials are suggested to the Tuscola United Methodist Church or Tuscola Public Library.
