Joan Honn, 84, of Arcola, died Monday, December 11, 2017 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, with Rev. Jeff VanDyke officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.

Joan was born March 3, 1933 in rural Arcola, the daughter of A. Ray and Nelle (Ehrhart) Honn. She grew up on the family farm that her grandfather created over 150 years ago. She also grew up in the Walnut Grove Christian Church which was situated on the land her grandfather deeded for the church.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Nancy Honn of Taylorville; Dorothy Honn of Charleston; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Joan retired in 1997 after working at the Charleston Community Hospital and Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center after 31 years of service. She enjoyed embroidering quilts, etc. and the company of her cats, Pugs, Toots, and Spook.

Joan attended the Arcola United Methodist Church where she enjoyed dining with the Luncheon Group.

She was dearly loved by her family and good friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Walnut Grove Christian Church, Arcola Food Pantry, or Arcola Public Library.
