Joan Mae Harshbarger Gillmore, 78, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 6:40 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at her residence.
Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL with Rev. Kenneth Roedder officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Fork Cemetery, rural Atwood, IL.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the funeral home.
Joan was born April 20, 1938 in Douglas County, IL, the daughter of Earl E. and Luella Mae Benz Harshbarger. She married Earl R. Gillmore on June 9, 1956. He preceded her in death on August 19, 1997.
Survivors include her daughters: Rhonda Kay (Ed) Willmore and Dianna Sue (Mark) Brian both of Tuscola, grandchildren: Christopher (Andrea) Brian, Nicholas (Lori) Brian, Brandon (Betsi) Willmore, Ashley (Nate) Lewis, Justin Willmore and Andrea, great-grandchildren: Madelyn Brian, Mason Brian, Molly Brian, Brady Brian, Landry Brian, Isabella Willmore, Blake Willmore, Paizley Willmore and Presley Willmore.
Brother: Larry E. (Darlene) Harshbarger of Ft. Myers, FL, nieces: Pam (Doug) Campbell and Stacy (Jeff) Branson, great-nephews: Owen and Wyatt Branson and dear friend Charlotte Eagan. Joan was the Godmother to: Julie Wrigley, Joni Grubbs and Jennifer Gherardini.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-grandson: Daniel Mark "Dane" Brian.
Memorials are suggested to the Atwood Library.
Joan was a member of the Lake Fork United Church of Christ since 1951. She graduated from Atwood High School Class of 1956. Joan was a member of the James Reeder American Legion Auxiliary. She was past president of the Atwood Woman's Club, Douglas County Museum and the Korean War National Museum and Library. Joan loved being in her Bunco Club and going to the Gunny Sack Review in Arthur. Joan formerly worked in management at Rockome Gardens, drove for Eagan Bus Service and worked as an assistant for Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Homes and Shrader Funeral Homes.
