Jimmie Lee Adams, 86, of Shelbyville, Indiana, formerly of Arcola, went home to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2024 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, Illinois, with visitation one hour prior to the funeral.  Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery.

Jimmie was born August 11, 1938 in Arcola the son of Donald and Viola Grant Adams.  He married Sharon Ohnesorge in Arthur on November 9, 1961.

Survivors include his wife Sharon Adams of Shelbyville, Indiana; 2 sons, Mark Adams of Indianapolis, Indiana; Christopher and his wife Lareen of Shelbyville, Indiana; 5 grandchildren; 1 step-granddaughter; 1 step-grandson; and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Raymond Burch.

Jimmie graduated from Arcola High School Class of 1956.  After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force for four years.  Less than a year after that, he joined the United States Navy for four years.  He then went back to the Air Force and retired from the military, serving a total of 22 years.

After retiring from the military, he went on to retire from General Motors and Rolls Royce. He then took up flying lessons at Shelbyville Airport, soloed, but never pursued getting his license.  It was one of his biggest loves, flying.

He was a member of the Crossroad Community Church in Shelbyville, Indiana. He will be missed by many.
