Obituary

Jim Osker Guthridge, 66, of rural Lovington, IL, found eternal peace with our Lord at 3:16 a.m., Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Arthur, 120 East Park Street, Arthur, IL. Burial will follow at the Van Voorhis Cemetery, rural Hindsboro, IL.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at the church. Shrader Funeral Home, Arthur, IL is in charge of the arrangements.

Jim was born on August 21, 1950 in Tuscola, IL, the son of Teil O. and Mary Ellen Neikirk Guthridge. Jim was married to Nancy Ann Morris on May 18, 1974 in Arthur, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include son: Daniel (Nikki) Guthridge of Tuscola, daughter: Brenda (Joe) Sanders of Emden, brothers: Charles (Karen) Guthridge and Paul (Sharon) Guthridge both of Hindsboro, IL, sister: Betty (Jerry) Deters of Montrose, IL, grandchildren: Teil and Grant Guthridge, Abigail and Naomi Sanders.

He was preceded by his son: Steven Teil Guthridge, his parents, and nephew: Michael Guthridge.

Jim was a 1968 graduate of Oakland High School and a 1973 graduate of the U of I in the school of Agriculture Engineering. He worked first at Clay Equipment in Morton; at Borg-Warner in Decatur, 1974-1989; Caterpillar in Decatur, 1989-1991; ending his career with 27 years at TCCI of Decatur as Director of Engineering.

Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arthur, NRA, Illinois State Riffle Assn, the Lake Fork Sportsman's Club and the Decatur Gun Club. He was a Certified Master Rifle Instructor, he enjoyed Camp Perry, Toledo, OH CMP (civilian marksmanship program games), and competitive rifle shooting matches. Jim loved hunting, skeet shooting and golf. Jim's biggest love was that which he had for his family.
