Jerry A. Ring, 72, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 8:45 pm, Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with Rev. Patty Johansen officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until time of services at the funeral home on Monday. Burial with military graveside rites will be held at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL

Jerry was born on December 12, 1938 in Champaign, IL, the son of Andrew and Reba Rutherford Ring.

Jerry is survived by his sister-in-law: Mary Ring of Tuscola, nieces and nephews: Lynna Anderson of Victoria, TX, JoAnne Rhodes of Divernon, Gary Ring of Mahomet, Larry Ring and Cathy Minear both of Tuscola, 15 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Kenneth Ring, sister: Phyllis Rich and niece: Melissa Roman

He graduated from Tuscola Community High School in 1957. Jerry retired from the US Postal Service in Champaign, where he worked as a mail carrier for 20 years. He served in the US Army from 1962 until 1964. Jerry was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Tuscola Warriors and Tuscola Little League Baseball games. He was a former Little League umpire.
