Jerry W. Jacobs, 87, of Tuscola, passed away at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, September 10, 2023 at the Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. Burial will follow in the Cartwright Cemetery, rural Tuscola, IL.

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jerry was born on March 22, 1936 in Ficklin, IL, the youngest child of Ivan E. and Goldia Cleo Romine Jacobs. He married Sharon E. Smith on February 16, 1963. She preceded him in death on April 30, 1999.

Survivors include his sons: Steve Jacobs of Atwood, Randy Jacobs of Martinsville and Mark Jacobs of Greenwood, IN, 4 grandchildren: JW, Jessica, Josh and Loryn, great-grandchildren: Cooper, Oakley and Ronnie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Mary Richardson, Marie Dallas, Peg Burcham, Leota Dallas, James Jacobs, Betty Rankins, Nancy Hanners, Herman Jacobs, Gene Jacobs and Joseph Jacobs.

Jerry formerly worked for the Tuscola Journal and worked as a composer for the News-Gazette prior to his retirement. He enjoyed blue grass music, raising chickens, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
