Jeanne Miller, 88, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 4:36 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Carriage Crossing Senior Living Center, Arcola, IL.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. Burial will follow in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL

Jeanne was born June 2, 1929 in Wabash, IN the daughter of Arnim E. and Thelma H. Barnes Root. She married John W. Miller in her parent's home in Tuscola on December 25, 1950. He preceded her in death March 30, 2012.

She is survived by her daughters: Julie (Patrick) Tomlinson of Decatur, IL, Jacki (Bill) Burchett of Camargo, IL; four grandchildren: Sarah (Adam) Garrison of Hoopeston, IL, Amanda (Todd) Zentefis of Springfield, IL, Nicole Burchett and Nathan Burchett both of Tuscola; 6 great-grandchildren: Lanie and Braiden Burchett, Lydia, Daken and Jamie Garrison and Kaylyn Zentefis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter: Jeri; 2 sisters: Marilyn Cauble and Donna Seip.

Jeanne graduated from Tuscola Community High School in 1947 and went on to Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Later she received her Master's from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. She taught in the Arthur and Tuscola School Districts for a combined 30 years. She was one of the first teachers at East Prairie Middle School in Tuscola.

Jeanne was a longtime member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church, Douglas County Home Extension, Tuscola Quilt Club and the Retired Teachers Association. She was a member and Past Matron of the Eastern Star.
