As youngster in Louisville, Jean enjoyed her summers at Camp Chelan in Sellersburg, IN first as a camper then for several years as a counselor to younger campers, teaching them the finer points of swimming, canoeing and hiking. She carried on this tradition of adventure into a 34 year passion for travel across the country with Parkhill Tours of Champaign, IL and later with Capital Tours of Springfield, IL. Her love of travel touched many lives and lead to friendships across the country. From the Autumn leaves of the Northeast to whitewater rafting in Jackson Hole and parasailing in Hawaii, she enjoyed every day.
She was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church, Stephen A. Douglas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Tuscola Women's Club. She was also one of the early instigators in the craziness of the Red Hat Society.
