Obituary

"Betty" Jean Cook of Tolono, formerly of Bourbon, died at 12:07 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2014 at her great niece's residence in Tolono.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2014 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, with Rev. Steve Diehl officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at Funeral Home.

Jean was born February 8, 1931 in Monroe County, Kentucky, the daughter of James Franklin and Mandy Cook Deckard. She married Thomas H. Cook in Sullivan on February 17, 1951; he preceded her in death on March 31, 2008.

Survivors include her niece, Sue Hicks of Glasgow, Kentucky; great nieces, Ann Long of Glasgow, Kentucky; Amanda Fulfer of Tolono whom Jean lived with; 2 great great nieces, Abigail Fulfer; Jasmine Elam both of Tolono; cousin, Mary June Voorhis of Abilene, Texas; sisters-in-law, Shirley Williams of Champaign; Betty Ross of Royal; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.

She had worked as a beautician and was a member of the Business and Professional Women of Arthur and the Douglas County Home Extension. She loved to travel and spend time with her family.
