Janet Lou Weatherford, 64, of Tuscola passed away quietly in her home at 3:33am, December 29, 2008.
A private family service will be held. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL is handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Weatherford was born May 19, 1944 to Clifton Herman and Ruth Geraldine Rahn Reifsteck. She married Bruce Weatherford on January 18, 1963. He survives.
Other survivors include five daughters: Lucinda Lou Adania (Anton) of Tuscola, Lana Lou Hill (Jay) of Arcola, Lisa Lou Ward (Tom) of Tuscola, LuAnn Lou Lange (Kip) of Tuscola, and Laci Lou Weatherford (Scott) of Maryland Heights, Mo. Twelve grandchildren: Amber, Natasha, Jordan, Katrina, Meghan, Ashlea, Slade, Andy, Ryce, Hannah, Jonah, and Larissa Lou. Also surviving are her father, step-mother, and two sisters.
She was preceeded in death by her loving mother.
For years Janet stayed at home to raise her daughters. When her children got older, she began seasonal work at Dekalb and did so for many years. She was also very instrumental in the running the family taxidermy business during all of her married years.
Janet enjoyed spending time with her family and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first great grandchild. She loved jigsaw puzzles, games, Elvis, trips to the zoo, Florida beaches, being outdoors, and her dogs. Her favorite tv shows were Jon & Kate Plus Eight, Survivor, Amazing Race and Big Brother.
Even though she was plagued with 2 terminal cancers, Janet never gave up the fight for life. She was still tending her home and yard during her last months of life.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Pink Jell-O Posse Relay for Life team.
