Janet S. Houser, 73, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 3:32 pm, Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Newman Rehab and Health Care Center, Newman, IL
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with the Rev. Patty Johansen and Rev. Kenneth Roedder officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.
Janet was born on January 22, 1937 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Ollie and Mayme Bonds Mahannah. She married O. Theo Houser on August 24, 1963 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2002.
Survivors include her daughters: Tammy (Bill) Adkins of Tuscola, Tara (Dennis) Creamer of Carterville, Grandchildren: Ashley, Whitney, Ali, Katie, Michael, Bryce and Courtney, Sisters: Isabel (Eddie) Bennett of Springfield, Joan McHood of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter: Jody Lynn Houser
Janet was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church, Douglas County Museum Association, Tuscola Kiwanis Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Red Hat Society. She served on the election board. Janet's pride and joy were her seven grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142
