Janet L. Branch, 84, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 6:11 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with the Rev. Ralph Deal officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL

Janet was born on November 18, 1932 in Vermilion County, IL, the daughter of Joseph Henry and Lorene Broedel Compton. She married Marvin Branch in April 1952 in Newman, IL. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2012.

Survivors include her son: Tom Branch of Tuscola, daughter: Denise Groves of Tuscola, son-in-law: John Waldrop of Tuscola, grandchildren: Matthew (Terra) Waldrop of Tuscola, Jessica (Tyler) Quinn of Tuscola, James (Oleia) Branch of Tuscola and Emily (Jordan) Hallett of Tuscola, great-grandchildren: Trey Waldrop, Elizabeth Quinn, Madeline Quinn and Nathaniel Quinn, brother: Jim Compton of Oakwood, sisters: Juanita Dowler of Villa Grove, Betty Cain of Savoy, Rosie Hill of Allen, TX.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter: Karen Waldrop, son-in-law: Hank Groves, grandson: Cliffton Groves, brothers: Bill, Gerald and Richard Compton and sister: Delores Richards.

Janet was a homemaker and former bookkeeper for the Douglas County Mental Health Department. She was the treasurer for the First Presbyterian Church for many years prior to the church closing, she then became an active member of the Tuscola United Church of Christ.

Janet volunteered for many years helping to deliver Peace Meals. She enjoyed sewing and baking.
