Obituary

Janece Blaase Dicks, 94 of Arthur, IL died at 8:10am, Thursday, December 4th, 2025 in her residence.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 4-8pm at Shrader Funeral Home, in Arthur, IL. Funeral Services will be Friday, December 12, 2025 at 11am, at the Arthur United Methodist Church officiated by Pastor Jill Bunker and Pastor Cody Dicks, Janece’s Great Nephew. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery.

She was born, December 19,1930 in Arthur, IL, daughter of Erwin “Bullet” Blaase and Elizabeth Blaase. She married Darrell Thomas Dicks February 8,1958 in Arthur; he preceded her in death on March 19, 1995. She worked at the State Bank of Arthur from 1947 – 1958 and was the Youngest Bank Officer in the State of Illinois at that time and a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church.

She was a wife, mother, and an avid golfer and a very competitive one at that, winning the Kaskaskia Ladies Championship 19 times, the Douglas County Ladies Tournament 8 times, the Kaskaskia Couples Tournament 15 times and the very first Arthur Alumni Tournament. She definitely left her mark on the Kaskaskia Country Club. She also loved playing cards with friends. She was a fan of the Fighting Illini, the Chicago Cubs and the Purdue Boilermakers, her other favorite past time was watching Westerns, specifically Gunsmoke.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy of Arthur; son, Doug and wife Meg of Carmel, IN; grandchildren, Ashley Griffin and husband Cole of Denver, CO, Kalie Dicks of Chicago, IL and Daniel Dicks and wife Gretchen of Sacramento, CA; sister-in-law, Iris Dicks of Arthur; 5 nephews, one niece, 7 great nephews, 3 great nieces and many great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell T Dicks; parents, Erwin and Elizabeth Blasse; sister and brother-in- law Joan and Wally Dicks; brother, Robert Blaase; and brother-in- law, Noel Dicks; and her husband’s parents, Kenny and Mary Dicks.

Memorials are suggested to the Arthur United Methodist Church.
