Jane F. Whitaker, 82, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 10:06 AM, Thursday, January 17, 2008 in the home of her granddaughter.
Funeral Services will be 2:30 P.M. Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 S. Main St. Tuscola, IL with the Rev. Kent Conover and Rev. Michael Rutledge officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL.
Mrs. Whitaker was born on September 20, 1925 in Louisville, IL the daughter of Pinkney Harold and Lois Mefford Fulk
She married Jasper "Jack" P. Kelley on March 6, 1942 in Clayton, MO. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1986. She married Henry "Hank" Whitaker on February 25, 1989 in Tuscola, IL. He and his children: Judy Newell, James Whitaker, Vicki Emberton, Jack Fulk and families survive.
Other survivors include: 1 Daughter: Susan Henry of Tuscola, IL, 1 Son: Roger Kelley of Decatur, IL, 1 Brother: Ben Fulk of Bible Grove, IL, many Grandchildren and their families including: Jaclyn Douglas of Tuscola, IL; Renee Harrison of Rantoul, IL; Linda Wilson of Murdock, IL; Paul Strack of Red Boiling Springs, TN; Mark Evans of Red Boiling Springs, TN along with many Great-Grandchildren including: Breanna Douglas, Christopher & Nichole Harrison; Dakota, Erica, Chelsea, and Cameron Getz; Amanda Nichols; Allison Wilson; Alissa Tuck, Nathan Strack; Takota & Marina Evans; 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Daughter: Lois Irene (Strack) Evans, 1 Son: Frank Lindel Kelley, 4 Infant Children, Grandson: Jack Lee Grant Kelley, 1 Infant Great-Grandson, 3 Sisters: Mae Dietz Tilford, Rose Scammhorn, Sue Fender and an infant brother.
Jane was loved by many. She worked as a LPN for many years in the Tuscola area including Douglas Jarman Hospital in Tuscola and We Care Nursing Home in Arcola and Private Duty Care. She was the family Nurse to her entire family. Jane was a private nurse at home to her husband Jack from 1973 until his death in 1986. She was known as "Mother Dear" to Marie Jacobs and "Grandma K" to all of Marie's children and grandchildren. Also known as "Mother" to daughter-in-laws: Patty Whaley and Karen Worker, and "Grandma" to Karen's children: Brandy Bushby and her family, and Kim Havner and her family. Jane's favorite things in life were God, her family and nursing. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the First Christian Church.
