Jane Luella Gillespie, 88, of Sterling, IL, formerly of Tuscola, IL, died at 5:50 AM, Sunday, May 28, 2006 at the Coventry Village, Sterling, Illinois
Funeral Services will be held at the 11 AM, Saturday, June 3, 2006 at the First United Presbyterian Church, Polo, Illinois, with the Rev. John C. Huff officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM, Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL. The Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL has been entrusted by the family with the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband: The Rev. Dr. James W. Gillespie of Sterling, IL,
1 Daughter: Leah Raye Schultz and husband: Jay of Ann Arbor, Michigan, 2 Grandchildren: James Schultz and wife: Dawn of Renando Beach, California and Miss Sarah Schultz of Minneapolis, Minnesota
She was preceded in death by her Parents, 2 Brothers: Wayne Neal and James Neal, 2 Nieces and 1 Nephew.
Mrs. Gillespie was born and baptized Jane Luella to Ura Earl and Zona Lillian Moody Neal at Ashmore, Illinois on June 12, 1917. Her parents moved to Tuscola, Illinois in November of 1917.
Jane attended both North and South Ward Elementary Grade School and graduated from Tuscola Community High School in 1935. She attended and graduated from Varner Beauty School at Paris, Illinois and then opened and operated a beauty shop in her parent's home in Tuscola.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tuscola and played the piano for Sunday School. Jane had studied piano under Mrs. Zay Wamsley. She also played the clarinet and tuba in the high school band.
She married James W. Gillespie in 1944 at Scott Air Field Base at Belleville, Illinois as he was stationed there during World War II.
Jane retired from the beauty profession after her husband became an Ordained Presbyterian Minister and Attorney-at-Law.
