James S. Wood, 80, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 4:48 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016 at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Tuscola United Methodist Church, 901 North Prairie Street, Tuscola, IL, with Rev. Ted Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the church. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Tuscola, IL is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Jim was born on July 24, 1935 in Tuscola, IL, the son of Charles Andrew and Dovie Blanche Birch Wood. He married Mary Jane Henning on May 8, 1954 in Rockville, IN. She survives.

Also surviving are his daughter: Sue (Gene) Alcorn of Tuscola, son: Andy (Cindy) Wood of Tuscola, grandchildren: Brian (Chris) Alcorn, Jason (Holly) Mills, Kyle Mills, Jamie (Dale) Rossan, Christian Wood and Courtney Wood, 8 great-grandchildren, sisters: Jean Terrill of Carmel, IN and Margaret Ann Wright of Waterville, OH

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Charles Wood and sister: Aileen Rushing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Tuscola Kiwanis Club or Scouting of Tuscola.

Jim graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a business degree. He formerly worked at USI and Cabot Corporation. Jim retired from Country Companies Insurance in 2000.

He was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men. He was a former member of the Tuscola Rotary Club and was very active in Tuscola scouting. Jim was a member of the Tuscola Kiwanis Club, where he loved helping with the K-Kids Club. Jim enjoyed sports of all kinds, including tennis, golf, Tuscola Warrior sports and Fighting Illini sports. He loved spending time with his many grandchildren and his best friend: Muffin.
