James Kevin Oye, 62, of Arthur, died at 2:59 AM Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the Arthur United Methodist Church, 128 E. Illinois Street, with Rev. Leroy Allison officiating. Casual wear is suggested. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur.
Jim was born August 27, 1952 in Decatur, the son of Charles E. and Marjorie Mae Bouck Oye. He married Susan Brown Green in Arthur on September 15, 1990.
He is survived by his wife Susan Oye of Arthur; daughter, Deana Green of Mahomet; son, J.R. Green of Arthur; 4 grandsons, Dylan O'Neil, Damien Green, Ryder O'Bryan, Dakota Green; sister, Diana Gay Davis of Arthur; step sister/sister-in-law, Karen Oye of Arthur; step brother, Dan (Judy) Whittington of Bruce, Wisconsin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Oye; parents; and stepmother, Theda Oye.
Jim was a member of the Arthur High School Class of 1970 and also a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church. He formerly worked as a meat cutter at Eads Store in Arthur with his dad, Charlie. He then worked at MasterBrand Cabinets in Arthur for 33 years.
Jim loved his grandbabies; history and the "Old West"; and attending his children and grandsons' events. Everyone loved Jim's smile and cowboy hat. His co-workers said, "he made it fun to come to work."
