James Howard Grant, 89, of Atwood, IL, formerly of Tuscola, died at 4:34 a.m. on the 5th day of April, 2016. Remains reside at Cartwright Cemetery, rural Tuscola. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Mr. Grant was born June 11, 1926 in Douglas County, IL, the son of John and Edith Grant. He married Dolores June Oye on December 3, 1946 in Phoenix, Arizona, now deceased. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marshall Grant, Percy Grant, and Byron Grant.
Survivors include 2 sons, Dennis Grant of Culver, Ind., Brian Grant of Quinton, VA; two daughters, Vicki Schwimmer of Little River, SC and Donna Via of Quinton, VA; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; one brother, Max Grant of Decatur, Il, and one sister Karen Phillips of Rockford, IL.
Mr. Grant was a veteran of World War II, having served on a mine-sweeper in the Navy, and a life-long employee of Panhandle Eastern Pipeline.
