James William "Bill" Mauck of Milton, FL, passed away Tuesday August 16, 2011. He was born April 24, 1937 in Fairfield, IL to Veryl and Ruby Mauck. The family moved to the Atwood, Illinois area where Bill's family farmed for many years. Bill attended school in Atwood and graduated in 1955. Bill was named All Okaw in football and participated in all sports. Bill graduated from the University of Illinois as a Mechanical Engineer and traveled throughout the world building Polyethylene plants. Bill lived in England and Belgium and worked in South Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, Columbia and Brazil, to name a few. Bill was considered by his peers to be a genius in mechanical engineering.
Bill was preceded by his wife Carolyn, parents, Veryl and Ruby, his brother Don Mauck, as well as a special uncle, Frank Mauck.
Bill leaves his wife and college sweetheart, Janet Smart Mauck; his daughters Kim Schlueter (Gerry) of Madisonville, TN, Debbie Mauck, Madisonville, TN, Heather Mauck of Cincinnati, OH, and a son Chris Mauck of Fort Dodge, Iowa to cherish his memory. Also sister Eugenia Kroll (Charles); brother Bob Mauck (Tip); and sister-in-law Betty Mauck, all of Atwood, IL; special niece Teresa Brawner, Palmyra, WI; step-daughters Sherie Dicus (Larry) of Pensacola, FL and Suzie Page of Pace, FL; grandsons Jamie Schlueter (Danielle) and (great granddaughter Adalyn); Jason Schlueter (Chelsea); Jesse William Mauck; step-grandson Aaron Dicus and step-granddaughter Kellie Dicus. Brother-in-law Ed Smart of Plattsburgh, NY and sister-in-law AnnSmart of Milton, FL. Four very special aunts are Mary Burks and Bessie Thompson, Decatur, IL, Ruth Turner of Peoria, IL, and Fern Gift of Mowequa, IL. Two of Bill's long time friends are Dr. Charles Beals of Baton Rouge, LA and John Mason of St. Louis, MO.
Bill was a Professional Engineer licensed in several states and Canada, a member of the Lion's Club for 25 year, National Management Association, and was the President of the Atwood Centennial Celebration.
Bill attended Trinity By The Fields Anglican Church in Pace, FL where he was loved and cherished.
A memorial service was held Friday August 19, 2011 with Rev. Billy Stoudenmire officiating at Trinity by the Fields, 4980 West Spencefield Road, Pace, FL 32571.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL
