Jack L. Stickel, 85, of Tuscola, passed away at 10:45 a.m., Sunday, November 10, 2024 at his home.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2024 at the Tuscola United Methodist Church, 901 North Prairie Street, Tuscola, IL with Pastor Bennett Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the Cartwright Cemetery, rural Tuscola, IL
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Stickel was born May 28, 1939 in Taylorville, IL the son of John P. and Flossie M. Oller Stickel. He married Sonya Lu Reece December 16, 1967 in Tuscola. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter: Tammy (Brad) Bennett of Tuscola, 3 grandsons: Matthew, Thomas and Andrew Bennett all of Tuscola, bonus kids: Nashonne Newman and Cotina Dunlap, 3 sisters: LaDonna Skinner of Hume, Barb (Delbert) Allen of Tuscola and Carol (Mike) Woods of Tuscola, sister-in-law: Mary Stickel of Taylorville and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Donald Stickel.
Jack enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. Family was his pride and joy, especially when it came to his grandsons. He also enjoyed coffee time with the guys at Flesor's solving all the world problems. He was known as a great story teller, both in fun and facts to all who knew. He loved cat fishing, arrowhead hunting, and building model trains and airplanes, especially with his grandsons. He was very passionate about animals, often rescuing those in need and spoiling his grand fur-babies. Jack worked at Cilco for 32 years as a gas service man.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Douglas County Animal Shelter.
