Jack L. Oakley, 84, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 3:15 a.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Heritage Manor, Bloomington, IL

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 East Van Allen Street, Tuscola, IL with Father Angel Sierra as celebrant. Burial with military graveside rites will be held at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL

Jack was born on September 19, 1934 in Newman, IL, the son of Clarence and Mildred Minor Oakley. He married Mildred L. "Millie" Barrett on February 11, 1956 in Hume, IL. She preceded him in death on October 27, 2012.

Survivors include 3 sons: Neil (Darlene) Oakley of Rantoul, IL, Jeff (Mindy) Oakley of Hudson, IL and Mark (Tracy) Oakley of Bloomington, IL, daughter: Janice (Daniel) Cain of Plainfield, IL, 10 grandchildren: Robert Oakley, Elaine Hall, Matthew Oakley, Zachary Cain, Chay Cain, Patrick Button, Jake Oakley, Madison Oakley, Rachel Sherman and John Sherman and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Lowell and Lyle Oakley and 4 sisters: Phyllis Yenawine, June Messmer, Eileen Neibarger and Eunice Oakley.

Jack retired from Quantum-USI Chemical Company following 40 plus years of service as a pipefitter and electrician. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Forty Martyrs Catholic Church and the Tuscola Moose Lodge. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his many family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church or American Heart Association.
