Jack was born on October 31, 1944 in Hindsboro, IL, the son of Russell Elza McCoskey and Juanita (VanVoorhis) McCoskey (Connor). He married Margaret "Margie" Eileen Kaufman in Mattoon, IL on December 12, 1970.

He is survived by Margie, his wife of 50 years; his two children Eric (Lianne) McCoskey of Aurora, IL; Amber (Aaron) Puttcamp of Waverly, PA; four grandkids, Kyle McCoskey of Aurora; Hannah Puttcamp of Waverly, PA; Norah Puttcamp of Waverly, PA; and Leah Puttcamp of Waverly, PA; brother, Joe (Sue) McCoskey of Hindsboro; and sister, Ann Livesay of Mattoon.

Jack was a graduate of Arcola High School Class of 1962. He worked 40 years at RR Donnelley in Mattoon as a Project Supervisor. He was active in the Donnelley's Last Edition Motorcycle Club and he pulled together their annual competition that was the highlight of the year as both adults and kids got to try to eat a hot dog on a string while riding their motorcycle or bicycle underneath.  He liked to take his family on an annual two-week road trip to explore America making it to 48 states.  He coached or watched his kids play sports never missing a game in 13 years.

He enjoyed his retirement by going on road trips to explore the wineries and breweries around central Illinois with Margie, the love of his life. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and loved tailgating with his family and friends at Illini home games in lot 31.  He loved spending time with his grandkids and watching Kyle play soccer, Hannah mountain bike race, Norah snow ski, and Leah race BMX bikes.
