Jack H. Johnson, 65, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 4:52 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2012 at his residence surrounded by family and friends.



Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL with Father Barry Harmon officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL with military graveside rites accorded.



Jack was born on August 9, 1946 in Tuscola, IL, the son of Joseph Johnson and Leatha Sanderson Johnson Romine. He married Patricia J. Kemper on June 23, 1979 in Bement, IL. She survives.



Other survivors include his mother of Brocton, three sons: James Johnson of Tuscola, Jeffrey Johnson of Ft. Riley, KS and Bradley Benson of Atwood, two daughters: Joanne Johnson of Tuscola and Nicki DeGrofft of Bement, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Janice (Dan) Ochs of Oakland and Jacki (Mike) McNamara of Hammond, sister-in-law: Gloria Romine of Maricopa, AZ, uncles: Jesse Sanderson of Neoga and Donald Sanderson of Tucson, AZ, aunt: Marguerite Browning of MO, many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.



Jack was preceded in death by his father, step-father: Ervin Romine, brother: Charles Romine, sister: Joni Ogbara, and cousin: Terry Luechtefeld.



Jack was a union iron worker and member of the Iron Workers Union #380, Champaign, IL. He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran. Jack's interests were collecting guns, working on Chevys and his grandchildren were the love of his life.
