Irene Marie Rogers, 96, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 5:25 a.m., Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 East Van Allen Street, Tuscola, IL with Father Angel Sierra as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.
A Prayer Service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL with visitation following from 5 to 8 p.m.
Irene was born on March 24, 1921 in Tuscola, IL, the daughter of Susan and Bruce Teeters. She graduated from Tuscola Community High School in 1939. She married William H. Rogers on October 10, 1940 in Tuscola, IL. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2014.
She is survived by her children: Bill (Sharon) Rogers of Camargo, Bob Rogers of Highland, Bev (Greg) Obrecht of Tuscola, Barb (Gary) Smith of St. Charles, IL, Bruce (Deanna) of Charleston, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and with one on the way in June, and 1 great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Albert Teeters, Marie Teeters, Bernice Martin, Maurine Schultz, Dolores Lane and Frances Hettinger, daughter: Brenda Rogers-Bunte, daughter-in-law: Cindy Rogers and granddaughter: Ashley Smith.
Irene was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring grandmother and thoughtful friend. Irene and Bill owned and operated Rogers Florist in Tuscola for 53 years and the former Rogers Market. She was a member of the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Irene was a member of the Illinois State Florist Association and FTD delivery service. Irene's greatest joy was her family and making others happy.
Memorials are suggested to the SAM Food Pantry or Juvenile Diabetes Association.
