Howard T. Rigg, 91, of Hammond, IL, passed away at 9:37 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL. Burial will follow in the Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, IL.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the funeral home.

Howard was born on June 5, 1927 in Spring Garden, IL, the son of Thomas and Lillie Smith Rigg. His family moved to rural Arthur in 1931. He graduated from Arthur High School in 1946 and was Valedictorian of his class. Howard married Norma J. Henderson on June 6, 1948 at the Baptist Church in Hammond, IL, where they are still active members.

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 70 years: Norma J. Rigg of Hammond, IL, children: Linda (Clarence) Davis of Lovington, IL, Pat (Nancy) Rigg of Albuquerque, NM, Marcia (Steve) West of Jefferson City, MO and the late Tom (Jamie) Rigg of Dalton City, IL; 9 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Tom Rigg, sister: Dorothy and brothers: Herb and Ralph.

Howard farmed with his father and brothers until 1955 when he went to work at USI (Quantum) Chemical Company. In 1979, he went to Brazil and Yugoslavia for the company to start up new plants. He retired as a supervisor in 1990.

Memorial contributions maybe made to the Hammond Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
