Howard E. Barnes, 80, of Floyds Knobs, IN, formerly of Tuscola, IL, died at 4:25 AM, Monday, August 6, 2007 at the Floyd Memorial Hospital, New Albany, IN.

Private Family Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL. Public Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M., Wednesday at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL.

Mr. Barnes was born on December 29, 1926 in Tuscola, IL, the son of Dallas E. "Dukey" and Myrtle B. Hite Barnes. He married Mary Ann Mattox. She survives.

Other survivors include his Daughter: Lee Ann Ranalli and husband: Tom of Glendale, CA, 1 Grandson: Nicholas H. Moody of Floyds Knobs, IN, 1 Sister: Dorlores Henderson and husband: Harlan of Tuscola, IL, Sister-In-Law: Mary Jean Barnes of Tuscola, IL

He was preceded by his Parents and 1 Brother: Guy Barnes

Mr. Barnes was a teacher and former head football coach at Unity High School, Tolono, IL and at Wheaton West Central High School, Wheaton, IL.
He graduated from Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, IL, and he received his Master's Degree from the University of Illinois.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family has suggested that memorials be made to the Illinois Retired Teachers Association Foundation, 620 North Walnut Street, Springfield, IL 62702-4930 or St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain, SD 57326
