Herbert F. Lust, Sr., 87, of Bement, IL, passed away at 11:15 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Bement Health Care Center, Bement, IL with his family members by his side.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL. Burial will follow in the Bement Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2017 with Masonic Rites immediately following at 6 p.m.

Herb was born on July 18, 1929 on the family farm, rural Hammond, IL, the son of Henry C. and Audrey V. Emery Lust. He married Frances "Ann" Halterman on November 12, 1953 in the Bement Christian Church.

Also surviving are his wife, Ann and children: Herb Lust, Jr. of Hammond, Howard (Kay) Lust of Bement, daughters: Kathryn Lust of San Francisco, CA and Donna (John) Parks of Urbana, grandchildren: Kristopher Lust (Heather), Courtney Brown, Jennifer Lust, Nicholas (Moria) Lust and Shelby Lust, 3 great-grandchildren and a brother: Leland (Delores) Lust of Hammond

He was preceded by his parents, daughter: Cynthia Ann Lust daughter-in-law: Cheryl Lust, in-laws: Joe and Frances Halterman, a brother and 3 sisters.

Herb was a water main contractor by profession, owner and operator of Bement Plumbing & Supplies Company, as well as a proud central Illinois farmer. Raised in the United Methodist Church of Hammond, he served his country as a member of the US Army during the Korean War, advancing in rank to Military Police and served his last months at Governors Island, New York. A committed provider, his greatest joys were his marriage to Ann, raising their 5 children and the solace of working the farm. He was a member of the Bement Masonic Lodge #365, AF & AM, Albert Parker American Legion Post #620 and the Moose Lodge of Champaign.

Memorials are suggested to the Bement Food Pantry.
