Henry "Hank" Whitaker, 82, of Flora, formerly of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 9:37 am, Sunday, June 27, 2010 at the Greater Peoria Specialty Hospital, Peoria, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL with the Rev. Kent Conover officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.

Mr. Whitaker was born on August 9, 1927 in Arcola, IL, the son of William H. and Halena Hogan Whitaker. He married Jane F. Fulk Kelley on February 25, 1989 in Tuscola, IL. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2008.

He was also preceded in death by his son: James Whitaker, daughter: Judy Newell, step-daughter: Irene Evans, 2 brothers and 4 sisters and former wife: Lois Whitaker

Survivors include: Jack Fulk and wife: Martha and family of Flora, IL, Roger Kelley of Decatur, IL and family, Susan Henry, Jaclyn Douglas and Breanna Douglas all of Tuscola, IL, Eileen Whitaker and family of Flora, IL, children and grandchildren of the late Irene Evans and Judy Newell, many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other extended family members.

Hank was a former saw mill operator in Bible Grove, IL and he was also a former janitor at the Douglas Nightingale Nursing Home in Tuscola, IL. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. Hank was affiliated with New Hope Baptist Church of Tuscola.
