Helen Wheeler, 87, of Arcola, died at 12:08 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, Mattoon.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, with Rev. Brent Budd officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Helen was born February 15, 1931 in Bowdre Township, the daughter of Oliver Victor and Effie Crowe Williams. She married Pete Wheeler in Arcola on January 12, 1957; he preceded her in death on March 8, 2007.

Survivors include her son, Jim (Penny) Wheeler of Arcola; grandson, Matt Wheeler of Arcola; granddaughter, Jamie (Jason) Simpson of Arcola; 2 great granddaughters, Ava and Ema Simpson.

Helen graduated from Arcola High School. She was a cook at the Embassy Bowling Alley for many years. She loved to work word puzzles, play cards, and spend time with her family. She was loved by all of her family.
