Helen L. Gocking, 91, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 3:10 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL with Rev. John Barker and Rev. Steve Gocking officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Villa Grove Cemetery, Villa Grove, IL

Helen was born on June 4, 1922 in Iroquois County, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Vera Downey Lockhart. She married James R. Gocking on June 3, 1945 in Hoopeston, IL. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1980.

Survivors include her children: James (Sharon) Gocking of Monticello, IL, Kathy (Richard) Conour of Atwood, IL and Bruce (Terry) Gocking of Zionsville, IN, 9 grandchildren,10 great-grandchildren, sisters: Carol (George) Zoellner of Scottsdale, AZ, Viola Voyles of Hoopeston, IL and Geraldine (Chuck) Alt of St. Joseph, IL

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter: Carolyn Louise Gocking on November 4, 1973, her son: Michael Lee Gocking on January 10, 1988, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Arthritis Foundation or Donor's Choice.

Mrs. Gocking was a homemaker and she formerly worked at Pizza Man in Atwood, IL. She was a longtime member of the Church of the Nazarene. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting and doing circle books.
