Harlen Ray Hatchel, 75, of Tuscola, died at 6:31 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2024 in Tuscola.

Harlen was born September 6, 1949 in Tuscola, the son of Eddie and Pearle Bridges Hatchel.

Survivors include his daughter, Libby (Joshua) Stephens of Champaign; son, Dustin Hatchel of Tuscola; 2 sisters, Florence Laughlin of Atwood; Minnie Vandeventer of Camargo; grandson, Brayden Hatchel   He was preceded in death by his siblings, Myron, Jack, Harvey, George, Everett Hatchel, Ruth Bates, and Doris Schull.

He graduated from Tuscola High School and attended Eastern Illinois University.  He worked as a Refrigeration Tech for Kraft Foods. He served in the Illinois National Guard as a combat medic at Headquarters, 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry in Urbana. He enjoyed hunting and camping.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.  Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.
