Gracie Larae Smith Good, 80, of Atwood, IL, went to be with the Lord at 4 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016, at the Arthur Home, Arthur, IL.  She had been in declining health for a few years.

She was born on April 3, 1936 in rural Oblong, IL. She was the daughter of Clarence Ray and Sylvia (Brownfield) Smith.    As she grew up, her family moved to Hammond, IN, where she attended elementary school. Later, they moved back to Oblong, and Gracie graduated with the Class of 1954 at Oblong Township High School.

She married the love of her life, Arthur Good, Jr., on July 21, 1954. They lived in California, since her husband was in the U. S. Navy.    After his discharge, the couple settled in Robinson, IL, where both were employed by Ettelbrick Shoe Factory.

The Good's were parents of two sons, Randall Delane (Carol Ann) Good of Charleston, IL and Ron Gene (Kathleen) Good of Mattoon, IL.  The family lived in Casey for several years, where Gracie and Arthur were employed by the Shoe Factory...later moving to Atwood, IL, their present home. They moved there to be closer to Arthur's work, and Gracie was employed for 14 years at the Schrock's Cabinet Making.

As long as Gracie was physically able, the couple attended and were members of the Sullivan (IL) Southern Baptist Church.    Gracie loved to crochet and was in the process of making her granddaughters afghans, having finished a few.    For years, the Good's had a dog, and, presently , Gracie's dog was "Dakota de Bear", she called him. and, while weeks at the nursing home, Arthur took the dog to see Gracie a few times.

The Good's grandchildren are: Alisha and Natashia; Kayle and Kelsie, Olivia, Trevor, Bethany and Amanda. There are 7 great-grandchildren.    Survivors, include Gracie's husband, Arthur; their two sons and families; Gracie's sisters, Charlotte Bennett, Carol S. Myers, and Retha Spaugh.; several nieces and nephews, including a niece,  Donya Dee Chessman.

Preceding her death, were Gracie's parents; her husband's parents, Arthur and Jo Good, Sr.; a baby sister, Karen Elaine Smith, and a sister, Roanna (Roni) Spencer; several brothers-in-laws, including Ralph Dean and Phillip Ray Good; two nieces, Kathy (Henry) St. Germain and Laurie (Bennett) Sgambelluri; and two nephews, Keith Duane Bennett and Stephan Allen Spencer.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Sullivan Southern Baptist Church, with visitation held one hour prior to the services, with Pastor Don Lusk officiating.    It was Gracie's choice to be cremated. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Atwood, IL is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be next spring at the Mackville Cemetery,  Atwood, IL
