Glenn D. Benson, 87, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 7:35 P.M. Friday, October 17, 2008 at the Tuscola Health Care Center Tuscola, IL.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 600 East Northline Road, Tuscola, IL, with the Rev. Michael J. Ruhlig officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Monday, October 20, 2008 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.

Mr. Benson was born on June 12, 1921 in Decatur, IL, the son of Grover and Myrtle Hanna Benson. He married Violet M. Henderson on July 27, 1957 in Tuscola, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include: 1 Step-Son: Boyd Henderson and wife: Virginia of Tuscola, IL, 1 Daughter: Dawn Stokes and husband: John of Tuscola, IL, 2 Sisters: Beatrice Godsey and Betty Funkhouser both of Decatur, IL, 5 Grandchildren: Jamie Henderson, Angelia Henderson, David Henderson, Blake and Paige Stokes, 2 Great-Grandchildren: Nicholas and Emma Henderson

He was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Brothers and 1 Sister.

Glenn retired from the US Post Office, where he worked as a letter carrier, mail sorter and postal clerk. After retirement, he worked at the Tuscola IGA and at Tuscola Recycling. He was a World War II US Army Veteran. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Glenn was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears and Fighting Illini Fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
