Gleneva Evelyn Ferguson, 90, of Chandler, Arizona, formerly of Casey, Illinois, and Port Richey, Florida, died at 7:30 AM Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Copper Cottage in Mesa, Arizona. She had been a resident of Palm Cedar Assistant Living in Chandler since 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, with Rev. Henry Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Janesville Cemetery, Janesville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Gleneva was born April 11, 1921 in Traer, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Jesse Strader Havens. She was united in marriage to Walter "Bill" Ferguson in St. Charles, Missouri on November 30, 1940; he preceded her in death on February 27, 1999.
Survivors include 2 sons, Richard (Marilyn) Ferguson of Frostproof, Florida; Gene (Leslie) Ferguson of Oreana; daughter, Carole (David) Uphoff of Chandler, Arizona; 6 grandchildren, Christine Swim of Monticello; Brad Ferguson of Decatur; Craig and Brian Ferguson both of Land Of Lakes, Florida; Michael Goble of Charleston; Lisa Curcio of Chandler, Arizona; 6 great grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Brewer of Casey. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Gleneva grew up in Casey and graduated from Casey High School. She was co-owner and operator of the Tastee Freeze in Casey for 30 years; she also operated Gleneva's Beauty Shop in Casey for 20 years; and she was owner of the Decatur School of Beauty Culture where she taught cosmetology.
