IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerie Nadine
Dunagan
July 3, 1958 – January 17, 2025
Gerie Nadine Dunagan was born on July 3rd, 1958 in Tuscola IL, the daughter of Ruth (Bennett) and Jacob Gingerich.
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away in Davis, IL at her residence on January 17th, 2025.
She is survived by her loving husband, Darryl Dunagan, two daughters: Leslie Dunagan and Linsday Liberatore (Mike) and their two children; Colee Kay and Sloan Jacob (of Albany WI) and two sisters; Debbie (Bill) Anderson and Renie (Clif) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her father, Jake; mother, Ruth; brother, Crandall Jay; and sister; Terri Slaughter.
Gerie was a lifelong Arcola resident until she and Darryl recently relocated to Northern Illinois to be closer to their grandchildren. While in Arcola, she spent 26 years as a bank teller, working for the First National Bank of Arcola, where she was a customer and community favorite, with her constant smile and infectious laugh.
After her career, she enjoyed retirement and spending time with her grandkids every chance she had. Gerie was so many things, to so many people. She had a warmth and kindness that often drew people to her. She was compassionate, loving, had the biggest heart and had a way of making everyone she encountered feel like they were special.
Gerie devoted her life to her family and God, especially after becoming a grandmother or "Mamaw", the kids were the light of her life. She also enjoyed being outside, tending to her many beautiful flowers and plants, hummingbird watching, hosting pool parties, spoiling her grandkids and spending time with friends.
Gerie was the glue of her family, always making sure everyone was fed, happy, and comfortable. She was the most selfless woman, always putting others first. Her kindness and warmth could be recognized in her words, seen in her eyes and smile, and her hugs had the ability to melt everything away. Gerie welcomed everyone, without judgement, with open arms. We are all so fortunate to have been able to experience her love and understand what it felt like to be loved by her.
